Fayette County coroner identifies victim in Lexington’s 17th homicide of 2025

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – The Fayette County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim of Tuesday night’s deadly shooting on East Seventh Street as 19-year-old Ja’Zarion Robinson.

Lexington Police said officers were called around 8:15 p.m. to the 500 block of East Seventh Street, where Robinson was found shot and pronounced dead at the scene. His death marks Lexington’s 17th homicide of the year.

Authorities said the search for a suspect is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call Lexington Police or leave an anonymous tip with Bluegrass Crime Stoppers.

Devine Carama, director of One Lexington, a city program focused on preventing youth violence, said he knew Robinson personally. In a social media post, Carama described him as “a kid he loved,” adding, “My heart breaks for his mom, grandmother, family and friends. We can standby and be complicit to losing our children in this war—or we can get in the game and save one life at a time.”

Carama said One Lexington will continue its work to guide young people away from violence. The group is inviting the community to join a Neighborhood Engagement Walk in the East End on Thursday, October 2. Volunteers will go door-to-door distributing resources such as mental health support, mentoring, job opportunities, and food bags, while also connecting with neighbors.

The walk will begin at 5 p.m. at Seventh Street Baptist Church, 501 E. Seventh Street. Organizers encourage participants to wear orange in a show of solidarity.

Carama said the walk is not only about responding to tragedy but also about showing love, support, and the strength of community.
