Hillshire Brands recalls 58 million pounds of corn dogs and sausage-on-a-stick

WASHINGTON, D.C. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Hillshire Brands, the maker of several popular meat products, is recalling 58 million pounds of corn dogs and sausage-on-a-stick items.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced the recall over the weekend, citing concerns the products could contain pieces of wood.

The recalled items were sold online and shipped to stores nationwide.

Hillshire Brands said the recall was issued after several consumer complaints, with at least five reported injuries linked to the products.

Shoppers who purchased the affected items are advised to throw them out or return them to the store for a refund.
