Cincinnati Reds make the postseason for the first time since 2020

MILWAUKEE, Wi. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – The Cincinnati Reds are headed to the playoffs for the first time since 2020,clinching the final National League Wild Card spot on Sunday afternoon. It is the first time the reds have made the playoffs in a full 162 game season since 2013.

Heading into the day, the Reds needed one of two scenarios to secure their postseason berth: either a win in their regular-season finale against the Milwaukee Brewers, or a loss by the New York Mets in their matchup against the Miami Marlins.

Fortunately for Cincinnati, it was the latter. The Mets fell 4-0 to the Marlins, so despite the Reds’ 4-2 loss to the Brewers, they’re in.

The Reds will face the Dodgers in a best-of-three series starting Tuesday at 9:08 p.m. ET. The game will be broadcast on ESPN.
