Campbellsville University student’s body recovered
TOLEDO BEND, TX. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Tragic news came from Toledo Bend as the body of 21-year-old Campbellsville University student Peyton Hughes was recovered.
Hughes, a college angler from Kentucky, went missing on September 24 while pre-fishing for a Bassmaster Kayak Series event.
His mother shared her heartbreak online, saying, “My sweet boy is gone—to be with his Daddy—who died fighting for this country.”
Search efforts involved multiple agencies from both Texas and Louisiana, including game wardens, wildlife officials, and local dive teams. The Hughes family is asking for privacy and prayers during this unimaginable loss.
