Online petition urges lawmakers to pass “Jayden’s Law”
BREATHITT COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – An online petition is calling for lawmakers to pass “Jayden’s Law” to better protect children from abuse and murder.
The Change.org petition was launched in honor of 10-year-old Jayden Spicer, whose body was found in August inside a plastic tote buried in the woods near Canoe Road in Jackson. Spicer had been reported missing nearly a week earlier.
Kentucky State Police say his mother, 33-year-old Felicia Gross, admitted to taking his body to the woods after he died from medication she gave him. She is charged with murder. Her husband, and Jayden’s stepfather, Joshua Gross, is charged with complicity to murder.
The petition has already gathered more than 1,100 signatures and is demanding stronger protections for vulnerable children to prevent similar tragedies.
