Authorities continue searching for escaped inmate possibly hiding in Mason County

MASON COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Authorities continue their search for an escaped inmate who broke out of the Brown County, Ohio Detention Center last Monday night and may be hiding near Dover in Mason County.

Officials say Jerry Lee Cooper was awaiting trial for his alleged role in a murder-for-hire case. They warn he could be armed and extremely dangerous.

The Mason County Sheriff’s Office is urging residents to stay alert and watch out for one another. A $10,000 reward is being offered for information leading to Cooper’s capture.

Anyone who sees him should not approach. Instead, call 911, the Mason County Sheriff’s Office at 606-564-3309, or submit a tip online to the FBI.
