Laurel County man arrested after welfare check leads to multiple charges
LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – A Laurel County man was arrested on multiple charges and outstanding warrants after deputies responded to a welfare check call last week.
According to the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrested 40-year-old Michael Harp around 9 p.m. Tuesday, September 16th on Becky Lane. Authorities had been dispatched after reports of a man lying in the middle of the road.
Deputies found Harp with his legs crossed and say he initially refused to identify himself. Officials later confirmed his identity and discovered he had three outstanding warrants. After a brief struggle, Harp was taken into custody.
Investigators said Harp had also unlawfully entered a residence and taken a power tool, which was found in his possession.
Harp faces multiple charges, including resisting arrest, criminal mischief, possession of drug paraphernalia, disarming a peace officer, disorderly conduct, menacing, and burglary, along with the outstanding warrants. He was booked into the Laurel County Correctional Center.
