Manhunt continues for escaped inmate in Northern Kentucky
MASON COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Police say the search is intensifying for Jerry Lee Cooper, an escaped inmate from Ohio who may have been spotted in Dover.
According to Maysville Police, Cooper and another inmate, Roy Gene Butler, broke out of the Brown County Jail late Monday night. Investigators say the men used a paddle boat to cross the Ohio River into Dover, where Cooper grew up.
Butler was captured Tuesday morning, but Cooper remains on the run. Police say he should be considered armed and dangerous.
Authorities are urging Dover residents to stay alert, lock doors and windows, and report any suspicious activity to the Mason County Sheriff’s Office.
