Traffic Alert: Dump truck overturns, shuts down major road for “several” hours

UPDATE: Motorists can expect Iron Works Pike between Russell Cave Rd and Mt Horeb Pike to be shut down for several hours.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) — A section of Iron Works Pike is shut down in both directions after a dump truck overturned, spilling a large amount of gravel across the roadway.

According to LexWrecks, the closure is between Russell Cave Road and Mt. Horeb Pike. Drivers are advised to avoid the area and find alternate routes while crews work to clear the scene.

No word yet on injuries or when the roadway will reopen.
