Sentencing this week for men convicted in Crystal Rogers murder
BARDSTOWN, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) — The final two men convicted in the disappearance and death of Crystal Rogers are set to be sentenced this week, according to ABC affiliate WHAS 11 News.
Brooks Houck, Rogers’ ex-boyfriend, was found guilty of murder and evidence tampering. Joseph Lawson was convicted of conspiracy to commit murder and tampering with evidence. Their convictions stem from Rogers’ 2015 disappearance, a case that has drawn national attention for years.
A jury has recommended life in prison for Houck and 25 years for Lawson. Sentencing is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, after being postponed in August due to Lawson’s health issues.
During the hearing, Rogers’ family members are expected to deliver victim impact statements. Former lead detective Jon Snow is also set to testify.
Both Houck and Lawson are pursuing motions for new trials and potential appeals.
