Applications now open for KSP cadet class

FRANKFORT, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) — Applications are now open for the next Kentucky State Police cadet class.

KSP says they are looking for recruits to serve communities across the state, especially in rural areas. Starting pay is $69,500, and candidates must be at least 21 with a high school diploma or GED, plus work, college, military, or law enforcement experience.

The academy lasts 24 weeks, or 14 for candidates with prior law enforcement. After graduation, troopers serve on the road for three years before becoming eligible for specialty units such as electronic crimes or the special response team.
