Remembrance ceremony for fallen 9/11 first responders
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Lexington will mark the anniversary of the September 11th attacks with two events honoring the lives lost and the first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice.
A remembrance ceremony will be held Thursday morning at the Fallen Firefighter’s Monument in Phoenix Park downtown. The event will honor the firefighters and other first responders killed in the line of duty on 9/11.
Later in the evening, the annual 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb will take place at 7 p.m. inside Kroger Field at the University of Kentucky. Participants climb 110 flights of stairs — symbolizing the World Trade Center towers — in tribute to the 343 firefighters and others who died in the attacks.
