Floyd County Schools asks parents to transport students amid bus driver shortage
FLOYD COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Floyd County Schools asked parents to help transport students on Tuesday after a large number of bus drivers called out.
According to the district, 32 drivers were absent, citing illness or other reasons, leaving several routes without coverage.
Officials said the absences came after a Monday meeting with some drivers and were tied to clarifications on existing pay agreements. The district emphasized that driver pay and scheduled hours have not been reduced.
Superintendent officials said they will provide updates as more information becomes available and thanked families for their cooperation.
