Scam involving Kentucky Performing Arts costs $100K
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Kentucky Performing Arts says it lost $100,000 due to a ticket resale fraud scheme involving the Broadway hit Wicked.
According to ABC affiliate WHAS11, prosecutors allege Aji-bola Odun-tan, who was born in Nigeria and now lives in Ireland, used stolen credit card information to buy dozens of tickets. He then resold them on StubHub. When credit card companies issued refunds, Kentucky Performing Arts was left to cover the costs.
Investigators say Odun-tan was linked to more than 60 fraudulent ticket sales totaling over $10,000 through multiple email addresses, phone numbers, and PayPal accounts. Legal action is underway.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about similar scams to come forward.
