Feeding Kentucky kicks off event for Hunger Action Month
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – September is Hunger Action Month, and state leaders joined Feeding Kentucky on Tuesday to highlight the fight against hunger.
The kickoff event took place at God’s Pantry Food Bank in Lexington, where volunteers, families, and community leaders gathered to raise awareness.
Feeding Kentucky says more than 753,000 Kentuckians face food insecurity, including one in five children. Lt. Governor Jacqueline Coleman and Agriculture Commissioner Jonathan Shell pledged support, while school leaders emphasized how full bellies help students succeed in the classroom.
Organizers say everyone can play a role — by donating, volunteering, hosting food drives, or spreading awareness. For resources and upcoming events, visit FeedingKentucky.org.
