Reds call up top prospect Sal Stewart as roster expands to twenty-eight

CINCINNATI, Oh. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – The Cincinnati Reds have called up top prospect Sal Stewart ahead of Monday’s Labor Day matinee against the Toronto Blue Jays. Stewart, 21, is a first baseman who is ranked as the #1 prospect in the Reds organization, and the 31st overall prospect in all of baseball.

Stewart, who was promoted to Triple A Louisville in July, had .315/.394/.629 splits. He also had tallied 10 homers and 36 runs batted in during his short stint in Triple A. Overall in the 2025 season (between Double A and Triple A) he has hit 20 home runs with 80 RBI’s and has a batting average of .309 on the season.

Stewart was selected by the Reds in the first round of the 2022 MLB Draft with the 32nd pick. This was a compensatory pick the team received after outfielder Nick Castellanos signed with the Philadelphia Phillies.
