KSP investigating inmate death at Eastern Kentucky Correctional Complex
WEST LIBERTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Kentucky State Police say they are investigating the death of an inmate at the Eastern Kentucky Correctional Complex.
According to a press release from KSP Post 8 in Morehead, prison officials contacted troopers around 8:50 a.m. Sunday after correctional officers found Robert A. Broyles, 34, of Louisville, unresponsive in his cell during morning count.
The release states that life-saving measures were attempted as Broyles was taken to ARH Hospital in Morgan County, but he died shortly after arriving.
KSP says preliminary findings indicate foul play is suspected, though, according to the release, that could change as the investigation continues.
