Lexington mother arrested after infant found dead on Park Avenue

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Lexington police say a woman has been arrested following the death of an infant last week on Park Avenue.

On Wednesday, August 27, around 10:30 a.m., officers were called to a home in the 400 block of Park Avenue for reports of an unresponsive infant. The child was pronounced dead at the scene. The Fayette County Coroner’s Office will determine the cause of death.

On Sunday (8/31), investigators arrested Laken Snelling, 21, the infant’s mother. She is charged with abuse of a corpse, tampering with physical evidence, and concealing the birth of an infant. Snelling is currently being held at the Fayette County Detention Center.
