KCTCS enrollment surges past 70,000 students, largest growth in years
FRANKFORT, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – The Kentucky Community and Technical College System is reporting major growth in enrollment this fall, with more than 70,000 students signed up across its 16 colleges.
Officials say that’s a 6.4% increase from last year, and with more start dates still ahead, total enrollment is expected to surpass 85,000 this semester. Students represent all 120 Kentucky counties.
KCTCS President Ryan Quarles said the growth reflects “the growing confidence Kentuckians have in our colleges as the most affordable and accessible pathway to a better future and a great career.”
System leaders say the surge will also help strengthen Kentucky’s workforce in high-demand fields such as healthcare, information technology, and manufacturing.
