Court date set for man with guns, drugs and dead deer charges
LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – A Laurel County man accused of hiding drugs, weapons, and even a deer carcass on his property is set to appear in court next month.
According to court records, 53-year-old Scottie Shelton is scheduled for arraignment on September 19. The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office says DEA agents arrested Shelton earlier this month on federal charges.
Investigators report finding a deer carcass inside a white metal building behind Shelton’s home on Southern Oaks Road near London. They also discovered a large amount of suspected methamphetamine, 83 guns, and more than 6,500 suspected oxycodone pills buried underground in PVC pipes.
Shelton remains in custody as his case moves through federal court.
