Lexington leaders preview upcoming Sacred Music Festival

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — Lexington Mayor Linda Gorton joined Dr. Everett McCorvey on Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church to preview the upcoming Lexington Sacred Music Festival.

The weeklong festival runs September 21–28 and will feature 25 sacred music experiences across churches, chapels, synagogues, mosques, and concert halls throughout the city.

Organizers say the festival celebrates community, uplifts the spirit, and highlights the beauty of diversity through music. Several events will be hosted at First Presbyterian Church during the week.

“Lexington has had a dynamic religious community since the early 1700s. With hundreds of houses of worship throughout Lexington today, music is a central point of most, if not all, worship service,” said 250 Lex co-chair Eunice Beatty.

Most performances are free or low-cost. A full schedule is available at 250LEX.com.
