Raywick firefighter dies after Marion County crash
MARION COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — A Raywick firefighter has died following a crash while responding to a call last week.
According to Supporting Heroes, Lieutenant Brian Hatt of the Raywick Fire Department passed away Monday afternoon from injuries he sustained in a line-of-duty crash. Officials say the 51-year-old firefighter was critically hurt Friday when the fire apparatus he was driving rolled over while he was responding to a tractor-trailer fire.
Another firefighter, Leonard Winkler, was also injured in the crash. He was taken to the University of Kentucky Medical Center with serious but non-life-threatening injuries and is continuing to recover.
Lieutenant Hatt served with the Raywick Fire Department for 12 years. He was also a U.S. Army veteran and had retired from military service. He is survived by his wife, Tonya, three children, and two grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.
