Lexington prepares for the grand opening of Gatton Park downtown

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – The grand opening for the new Gatton Park in downtown Lexington is set for this weekend. The park replaces the former parking lot behind Rupp Arena on Manchester Street.

According to officials, the day-long grand opening event will take place Saturday. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for noon, featuring Mayor Linda Gorton and other local leaders.

Organizers say the celebration will also include free concerts, dance performances, and family-friendly activities throughout the day.
