Lexington Mayor Linda Gorton announces bid for third term

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — Mayor Linda Gorton has officially announced she will run for a third term as Lexington’s mayor.

In a statement Wednesday, Mayor Gorton said the city has made substantial progress since she first took office in 2019, but emphasized there is still more work to be done. She said she’s energized by the challenges ahead and looks forward to continuing to serve the community.

Gorton was first elected in 2018, winning 63% of the vote, and was re-elected in 2022 with 71%.

The next mayoral election in Lexington is scheduled for November 3, 2026.
