Kentucky WWII veteran celebrates 100th Birthday in Bullitt County

BULLITT COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — World War II veteran and Marine Lance Corporal George Bradbury marked his 100th birthday Saturday in Bullitt County, surrounded by family, friends and community leaders. Bradbury served in some of the conflict’s fiercest battles alongside the famed Navajo Code Talkers and was in Okinawa when the first atomic bomb was deployed. After the war, he aided in escorting Japanese civilians back to their homes amid China’s civil unrest, then returned to Bullitt County—where he raised a family and later served on the local school board. “Happy 100th, Mr. Bradbury—and thank you for your service,” organizers said at the celebration.
