Police: Robbery Leads To Chase

 Police in Georgetown said they used spike strips to stop a man who robbed a gas station Thursday.

 The robbery happened at the Shell station at the corner of East Main and Warren Dale at 9:30 p.m.

 The clerk told police the suspect came in, implied he had a weapon and demanded money.

 He got away after getting it.

 A short time later, the suspect’s truck was spotted by officers.

 The suspect fled into Woodford county.

 Police finally stopped the truck with spike strips at the intersection of U.S.60 and U.S. 62.

According to the Georgetown Police Department 25-year-old George Byers is charged with 1-count of robbery, 1 count of fleeing, and 4- counts of wanton endangerment in the 1st degree.

Byers is in the Scott County detention center he is expected to go before a judge on Wednesday of next week.
