Triple Crown Champion American Pharaoh To Be Honored

From the track, Triple Crown champion American Pharaoh continues to be cemented in history.

Santa Anita will rename a Grade 1 stakes race in honor of the 2015 Triple Crown winner. The track says the American Pharaoh stakes for 2-year-olds will be run in late September.

Pharoah won that race in 2014 back when it was known as the frontrunner stakes.

That’s also when he was based at the track.

His trainer Bob Baffert says he hopes one day some of Pharaoh’s babies will run their dad’s new namesake race.
