Lexington honors Father Norman Fischer one year after his passing
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — It’s been one year since the sudden death of beloved Lexington priest Father Norman Fischer, and the community is coming together to honor his life and legacy.
Father Norman passed away unexpectedly on July 15, 2024. He was the pastor of Saint Peter Claver Church and served as chaplain at Lexington Catholic High School, known for his faith, compassion, and outreach in the community.
Over the next few weeks, several events will pay tribute to him:

A gallery showing of his artwork opens Thursday at Hockensmith Art Gallery in Lexington.

A memorial Mass is scheduled for this Saturday at Saint Peter Claver Church.

On July 29, Mayor Linda Gorton will officially proclaim the day as “Father Norman Day” in Lexington.

And on August 2, a children’s book inspired by his life will be launched in his honor.
Organizers say the events are a way to celebrate his enduring impact on the city and those he served.
