New case of measles as outbreak continues in Central Kentucky
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 News Now) — The Lexington-Fayette County Health Department has confirmed another measles case connected to the ongoing outbreak that began in Woodford and Fayette counties.
According to the health department, there are now nine cases linked to the outbreak. The newest case was reported Tuesday, and it brings the total to five confirmed cases within the same household in Lexington.
Health officials say all of the patients remain under quarantine.
The outbreak marks the largest cluster of measles cases seen in central Kentucky in years. Officials continue to urge the public to stay up-to-date on vaccinations to prevent further spread of the highly contagious virus.
