Flags lowered to half-staff in honor of soldier killed

FRANKFORT, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) Governor Andy Beshear has ordered flags across Kentucky to be lowered to half-staff Friday in honor of U.S. Army Chief Warrant Officer Dustin Wright, who was killed earlier this month in a helicopter training crash at Fort Campbell.

According to the governor’s office, flags at all state buildings will remain at half-staff from sunrise to sunset Friday as a tribute to Wright, who will be laid to rest at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery in Hopkinsville.

Wright, 40, died on June 11 during a training mission near the Tennessee border. Officials say a second soldier was injured in the crash and taken to a hospital in stable condition.

Governor Beshear called on Kentuckians to join in honoring Wright’s service and sacrifice.
