Koby Brea selected No. 41 overall in second round of NBA Draft

BROOKLYN, Ny. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Mark Pope’s first NBA Draft pick as head coach of Kentucky is officially in the books. Former Kentucky guard Koby Brea was selected No. 41 overall in the second round of the 2025 NBA Draft on Thursday night.

Brea was initially drafted by the Golden State Warriors but was later traded to the Phoenix Suns, where he’ll join a strong Kentucky alumni group that includes Devin Booker, Nick Richards, and TyTy Washington Jr.

“I’ll do anything that’s needed,” Brea said during ESPN’s broadcast. “I’m an extreme competitor. I’m super coachable. I just want to be there, become the best version of myself, and do whatever is asked of me. They’re going to get somebody that is all hands in.”

In his lone season with the Wildcats, Brea averaged a career-best 11.6 points per game and shot an impressive 43.5% from three-point range — one of the most efficient sharpshooters in college basketball.
