Traffic alert for Richmond Road construction project

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — Drivers in Lexington should expect traffic delays as a major road improvement project kicks off Monday on Richmond Road and Athens-Boonesboro Road, just south of Man O’ War Boulevard.

According to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, the $13 million project will upgrade five intersections with restricted crossing U-turns (RCUTs), a design intended to improve traffic flow and reduce collisions.

Construction is expected to cause traffic disruptions throughout the area, with work scheduled to continue through next summer.

Drivers are advised to use caution and allow extra time when traveling through the construction zone.
