Trump ally superpac targets Kentucky’s Rep. Thomas Massie

WASHINGTON, D.C. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) Allies of President Donald Trump have launched a super PAC aimed at unseating Representative Thomas Massie, a Republican from Kentucky who has publicly opposed key parts of the president’s agenda.

The move follows Massie’s vote against a major domestic policy bill backed by Trump, as well as his vocal criticism of the president’s recent military strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities.

Massie was one of just two House Republicans to vote against the sweeping tax and spending legislation. He also called Trump’s decision to carry out strikes without congressional approval “unconstitutional.”

Trump fired back, referring to Massie as a “negative force” and a “simple-minded grandstander.”

The formation of the super PAC signals a willingness by Trump and his allies to challenge members of their own party who break from the administration’s priorities.
