Kentucky Freshman Jasper Johnson Named to USA U19 National Team

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Incoming Kentucky men’s basketball freshman Jasper Johnson has been selected to the USA Basketball U19 National Team, which will compete in the 2025 FIBA U19 Men’s World Cup from June 28 to July 6 in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Johnson earned one of 12 spots following this week’s training camp in Colorado Springs. The team will be led by Arizona head coach Tommy Lloyd. Team USA will face Australia, France, and Cameroon in Group D of the tournament.

Johnson is no stranger to international competition. He won gold at the 2024 FIBA U18 AmeriCup and helped lead the USA to victory in the Nike Hoop Summit earlier this year.

The 6-foot-four guard averaged 20.3 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 5.8 assists as a senior at Overtime Elite, and was a standout at Peach Jam 2024, averaging nearly 20 points per game.
