Brent Spence Bridge new design revealed by Governors Beshear, DeWine

COVINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — A major step forward for one of the region’s biggest infrastructure projects: Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear and Ohio Governor Mike DeWine unveiled the official design for the new Brent Spence Bridge companion span on Wednesday.

The new bridge, a state-of-the-art cable-stayed structure, will carry both I-71 and I-75 traffic across the Ohio River—aimed at reducing congestion on the existing Brent Spence Bridge. Officials say the new design is not only modern and safe, but also cost-effective and intended to become a regional landmark with sweeping views of the Cincinnati skyline.

The companion bridge is being built with no tolls and is expected to significantly improve traffic flow and safety, while supporting long-term economic development along the corridor.

Construction is progressing as planned, with officials hailing the project as a historic investment in Kentucky and Ohio’s transportation future.
