Kentucky to receive $73 million in latest Purdue Pharma opioid settlement

FRANKFORT, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — Kentucky is set to receive more than $73 million in a new legal settlement with Purdue Pharma, bringing the state’s total opioid crisis recovery funds to over $1 billion.

Attorney General Russell Coleman announced the agreement Monday, calling it a major step in holding Purdue Pharma and the Sackler family further accountable for their role in the state’s drug epidemic.

The settlement funds will be directed toward prevention, treatment, and recovery programs across Kentucky.

Under the terms of the agreement, half of the money will be distributed to cities and counties, while the other half will be managed by the Kentucky Opioid Abatement Advisory Commission.
