Lee County inmate released by mistake caught in Fayette County

FAYETTE COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — An inmate who escaped from the Three Forks Regional Jail in Lee County is back in custody — this time in Fayette County.

According to jail records, 43-year-old Jeffrey Harrison of Lexington was booked into the Fayette County Detention Center on Wednesday.

State police say Harrison walked out of the jail in Beattyville on May 30 by pretending to be his brother, who was scheduled for release that day.

Officials have not yet said how long Harrison was on the run before he was captured.
