Missing man’s body recovered from Elkhorn Creek, says family

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) —Close friends of a man, who has been the subject of an intense water search, confirm his body has been recovered from Elkhorn Creek in Franklin county.

Michael Looby went missing while tubing over the weekend.

Looby was last seen Saturday near Still Waters Campground in Frankfort. According to his close friends, he was tubing with four other people when strong currents pulled the group beneath a large pile of debris. Four people managed to escape, but Looby never resurfaced.

The Franklin County Fire Department remained on scene for several days, monitoring water levels while the search was temporarily paused.

Looby’s friends shared photos of the area over the weekend.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that search efforts resumed once conditions improved.
