Two dead in Russell County suspected murder-suicide

RUSSELL COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — Authorities are investigating after two people were found shot to death in their home over the weekend in the Jabez area of Russell County.

According to the Russell County Coroner’s Office, 78-year-old Thomas Sawyer and his wife, 80-year-old Dorothy Sawyer, were found dead Saturday night in their home on Cherokee Trail.

Investigators say the case may involve a possible murder-suicide, though the exact circumstances remain under investigation.

Both bodies have been sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort for autopsies.
