Kentucky Baseball bows out of SEC Tournament
Head Coach Nick Mingione's team will have to wait for its NCAA Tournament fate
HOOVER, Al. (ABC36 NEWS NOW)- Kentucky baseball is headed home after a one and done SEC Tournament with a 5-1 loss to Oklahoma on Tuesday, dropping to 29-24 overall this season.
UK had a 1-0 advantage after the top of the third inning, but the Sooners boomed for three runs in the bottom of the frame for a 3-1 lead. A wild pitch and RBI groundout later in the game sealed the Cats’ fate as they couldn’t generate any offense to respond to the five runs.
Kentucky will wait to see if they’ve done enough to make the NCAA Tournament next week, but this season’s disappointing record means UK will not be hosting a Regional for the first time since 2022.
