FRANKFORT, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) — Gov. Andy Beshear has declared a state of emergency as strong storms move across Kentucky Friday afternoon and evening, bringing threats of damaging winds, hail, flooding, and possible tornadoes.
The Governor urged Kentuckians to stay alert, monitor weather updates, and have a safe place to go if conditions worsen, according to a news release from his office.
In response, the Kentucky Emergency Operations Center has been activated, and the Kentucky National Guard is on standby. Transportation Cabinet crews and local emergency teams are also preparing for possible impacts.
To protect residents during storm recovery, Gov. Beshear has activated the state’s price gouging laws. Reports of unfair pricing can be made to the Attorney General’s Office.
