Lexington teen killed, six others hurt in crash
Community mourning loss of Frederick Douglass High School student Matthew Perrine
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) — The community is mourning the loss of a teenager killed in a head-on crash Saturday on Bryan Station Road that injured six others.
According to the Fayette County Coroner, the person who died was 17-year-old Matthew Perrine.
The Lexington Fire Department says crews were called around 3 p.m. Saturday to the 3500 block of Bryan Station Road. Officials say when they arrived, they found two vehicles with extensive damage, and two people had to be extracted from the wreckage.
Officials say a total of seven people were taken to the hospital. Police report that one person suffered life-threatening injuries, another suffered non-life-threatening injuries, and four others had minor injuries.
According to a post on Facebook, Perrine was a student at Frederick Douglass High School and a member of the school’s baseball team. Community members are planning to hold a celebration of life for Perrine on Sunday, May 4.
