Mike Smith Jr. signs a free agent deal with Dallas.

RICHMOND, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW)- Eastern Kentucky football defensive back Mike Smith Jr. is a Dallas Cowboy after signing a free agent deal with the team.
Smith Jr. spent three seasons at Eastern and was a part of a defense in 2024 that allowed 23.7 points per game on its way to the FCS Playoffs.
The Jacksonville, Florida native had four interceptions, 63 tackles and six pass breakups as a safety for Head Coach Walt Wells’ team.
He ended his time in Richmond with All-American honors from several lists and became an all-conference selection.
Smith becomes the first Colonel to join the Cowboys organization since EKU Hall of Famer Tim Lester in 1999.
