Unemployment rose in 76 Kentucky counties

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – Unemployment rates rose in 76 Kentucky counties between October 2017 and October 2018, fell in 34, and stayed the same in 10 counties, according to the Kentucky Center for Statistics.

The lowest jobless rates in Kentucky included;
Woodford County – 3.2%
Boone County – 3.3%
Campbell County – 3.3%
Fayette County – 3.3%
Oldham County – 3.3%
Scott County – 3.3%
Kenton County – 3.4%
Shelby County – 3.4%
Spencer County – 3.4%
Henry County – 3.6%
Jessamine County – 3.6%

The highest unemployment rates in Kentucky included;
Magoffin County – 11.3%
Elliott County – 7.4%
Harlan County – 7.3%
Carter County – 7.2%
Leslie County – 7.2%
Clay County – 7.1%
Owsley County – 7.1%
Knott County – 6.9%
Wolfe County – 6.9%
Breathitt County – 6.8%

Kentucky’s county unemployment rates and employment levels are not seasonally adjusted because of small sample sizes. Employment statistics undergo sharp fluctuations due to seasonal events such as weather changes, harvests, holidays and school openings and closings. Seasonal adjustments eliminate these influences and make it easier to observe statistical trends.
