Sheriff: Man threatened to blow up home with pipe bomb

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man they say threatened to blow up a home with children inside.

Deputies responded to the home off KY 1376 near London on Thursday around 7:45 a.m.

They say 32-year-old Sean Frederick got into an argument with other family members in the home and threatened to set off a pipe bomb.

There were three children inside the home at the time.

Frederick’s mother and father escaped from the home.

Deputies say Frederick was still inside with the children when they arrived but came out and, after briefly resisting arrest, was placed into custody.

They say the bomb turned out to be a toilet paper roll wrapped in tape.

Deputies say another man, 28-year-old Jonathon Wendell Bowling, was also in the home.

He was arrested for drug possession.
