Cuba says US unfairly denying diplomatic visas
Cuba says the Trump administration is unfairly denying visas to diplomats assigned to work at the Cuban Embassy in Washington.
The Cuban Foreign Ministry says in a statement that the U.S. has denied six visas to Cuban diplomats and approved 26 since September 2017. Cuba, meanwhile, says it has approved 105 temporary and permanent visas for staff assigned to the U.S. Embassy in Havana. It says it has denied one in response to the U.S. actions.
The Cuban statement released Wednesday night describes the U.S. action as “unfair behavior that’s outside the norms of reciprocity necessary for diplomatic relations.”
The U.S. State Department did not immediately respond to the statement.
