Georgia Amoore drafted 6th overall to the Washington Mystics

MANHATTAN, Ny. (ABC 36 SPORTS) – Georgia Amoore was selected sixth overall by the Washington Mystics in the 2025 WNBA Draft on Monday night. She became the sixth Kentucky Wildcat in program history to be selected in the first round of the WNBA Draft. Amoore is also Kenny Brooks’ ninth draft selection.

The Mystics had three selections in the first round (3rd, 4th and 6th). Washington secured Notre Dame shooting guard Sonia Citron as the third overall pick, and USC power forward Kiki Iriafen as the fourth overall pick.

Amoore’s journey to the WNBA has been paved with remarkable achievements and accolades. During her time at Virginia Tech, she played a pivotal role in leading the Hokies to their first Final Four appearance in 2023. Her stellar performance continued in Lexington, quickly becoming the engine of Kentucky’s offense. She averaged 19.6 points, 6.9 assists, and 1.0 steals per game during the 2024-25 season. Notably, she scored 43 points in a game against Oklahoma, tying Kentucky’s single-game scoring record.
