Lexington Police Department mourns loss of Officer Devan Gales

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — The Lexington Police Department is mourning the loss of one of its own. According to a post on the department’s Facebook page, Officer Devan Gales passed away on Thursday while off duty

Officer Gales had been a member of the department since October 2004 and was most recently serving as a patrol officer in the East Sector, the post stated.

The department described Gales as someone known for his daily smile and laugh, adding that he leaves behind “a legacy that will not be forgotten.”

“We will miss our friend,” the post read. “We are keeping his family and friends very close in our hearts. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.”

No further details about his passing were released.
