Richmond couple arrested in child abuse case

RICHMOND, Ky. (WTVQ) – Two people are under arrest, accused of beating a child.

According to the Richmond Register newspaper, an 11-year-old child ran up to a woman and asked for help at the Smith Village Apartments on November 21.

The newspaper says the woman took the child to police, who noticed several bruises and scratch marks on the boy. The child also had facial swelling.

The boy told police he escaped through a bedroom window to get away from his abusers, according to the newspaper.

Police arrested Ericka Perkins and her fiancee, Joseph Woldeselassie, and charged them with criminal abuse of a child.
