Woman from Lexington killed in dump truck collision

WALTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — Investigators say a woman from Lexington was one of two people killed in a crash earlier this week in Boone County that ended with a dump truck crashing into a restaurant.

According to the Boone County Sheriff’s Office, the deadly collision happened Tuesday at the intersection of U.S. 42 and Beaver Road in Walton. Deputies say an SUV turned into the path of a dump truck, causing the truck to strike the vehicle and flip the SUV onto its roof.

The impact then pushed the dump truck off the road and into the Boonedocks Bar and Grill restaurant.

Two passengers in the SUV died at the scene, according to investigators. They have been identified as 89-year-old Betty Hillard of Lexington and 91-year-old Eva Mulberry of Williamstown.

The driver of the SUV was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. The dump truck driver sustained only minor injuries, deputies said.

The crash remains under investigation by the Boone County Sheriff’s Office.
